Meet Melissa, Sasha & Luke

(This is Konni’s Sister)

Before the war, Melissa, Sasha and Luke lived in a small village in eastern Ukraine. They worked with orphans through their non-profit, Open Arms Ukraine. Sasha had built their house and they had a garden. They liked fishing the nearby river with their big dog, Balor, who is still in Ukraine with a friend.

Here’s a little bit about them:

Luke is 2. 5 years old. He likes cars, trucks and excavators. Pretty much any vehicle that moves, he loves it.  He likes the kid’s show, Blippi.  He’s around a 95-100 in clothes and a size 8 in shoes. He is jabbering away in Ukrainian, English and now some Portuguese.

Melissa likes candles, sunflowers, big earrings, and all kinds of hot sauce. She’s not big on sweets but loves coffee and red wine. .At Christmas, she enjoys decorating with all different types of trees at Christmas. She works part time for a US company.

 Sasha is creative and likes to build things out of scrap metal and bike chains, as he is a welder.  He is starting to replace all the welding tools left behind.  He also enjoys playing games on the PlayStation and fishing. There is a great river nearby and they all like going there.

They live about 30 minutes from Gaia in Vila de Famalicão.
